Inzamam speaks on Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq’s selection

Pakistan’s selection committee’s head Inzamam Ul Haq is pretty much open about his decisions which has taken so far. He has selected a good team so far since he has come as the new selector in place of Haroon Rashid. Inzamam currently has been asked a lot about the selection of Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq.

In a recent TV sports show Inzamam finally spoke on this matter. He said that first of all he would like to clear one major point and that is he is open to selection of any player. PCB has not closed the doors for any player in Pakistan except who have announced their retirement.

Inzamam said that people are thinking that Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq are not past. This is not right. He said that PCB will take them in but for that they have to show something to the selection committee in the name of performances. Inzamam said that performance is the criteria for him and it is as simple as that. He said that he will not take any player in the side who is not performing. He said that in domestic cricket the players will have to show that they are doing something.

Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq both are not playing the domestic cricket at the moment. Shahid Afridi went straight to England after World T20. He signed a contract with the Hampshire team and played for them in the whole season. Abdul Razzaq has not played any form of cricket for ages.

Last he was seen in action was last year when he played in the Masters Champion League. He did well but he old aged and retired for sure. So for him there is no chance left to make a comeback but still Inzamam is willing to take him in if only he plays for a domestic and shows performances in a season.

Inzamam said that Shahid Afridi is available for T20 format and he has informed him about it. But Inzamam has made it clear that Shahid Afridi will have to perform in the domestic cricket in order to make it into the T20 side again which is pretty tough because Shahid Afridi does not play the Pakistan domestic cricket. Inzamam is pretty clear in his procedure. Now that makes the case difficult for both Afridi and Razzaq. Their time is up and that is now a fact. They have played their cricket and now they both should announce their retirement. This is the best way to say good bye to cricket for them both.
